Exporting Prosperity

This book began in 2008 as an effort to reconcile the media's portrayal of a supposed "strong U.S. economy" with "low unemployment" with what I saw in the real world among my friends and colleagues, especially those over the age of 40.  All I could see was people unable to find good work if they could find any work at all, making a lot less while working a lot more.  The unemployment numbers were incredulous to me, so I began to do my own research and spent hundreds of hours pouring through pages and pages of government statistics.  What I learned was astounding...for example, if you have exhausted your unemployment benefits and still are not working you are dropped from the "labor force" and are not considered unemployed by the government.

The more I poured over the statistics the more I wanted to find out what was really going on...and eventually decided it was time to share that knowledge, to help people them understand why things feel "so hard" to so many.  I hope you find the book informative, if not also as frustrating as I became with the "current state of affairs in our country, but that it also gives you some hope that if we all band together we will see the prosperity of past generations of Americans!
